Arlette Vandeneycken was born in 1967. She has lived and worked in Rwanda, Belgium, Canada and Germany. She was a member of the Rwandan association of visual artists, Isoko Arts Rwanda and the Rwandan Society of Authors (RSAU). In A level, she studied Art and Art History and has had trainings in oil painting, ceramics and etching. She holds a master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and Comparative Linguistics. Arlette participated in a number of exhibitions: “Umutima w’Urugo,” a solo exhibition at Inganzo Art Gallery, Kigali, Rwanda in June 2009; “Art Safari,” a duo exhibition at Laico Umubano, Kigali in December 2009; “Isoko Colors,” a group exhibition at Laico Umubano, Kigali in March 2010; a group exhibition at MINICOM, Kigali in April 2010 and “Rwandan Facets” a solo exhibition at the artist corner, Kigali International Airport. She won the 1st prize in painting “Art for Peace 2009” organized by the Institute of National Museums of Rwanda.
