Cindi Cassady is a clinical psychologist by profession living and working in Rwanda. She integrates art with psychotherapy as a non-verbal way for individuals to express their emotions, thoughts and feelings at a deep and visually expressive level. She is fascinated to work with fluid mediums such as watercolor and alcoholic ink on Yupo paper and canvas. The challenge of working with these mediums is being able to maintain the balance between having control and guiding the medium to define the final message or letting go and allowing the medium the freedom to dictate the end result. The recurring themes of her works focus on women, mothers with children, and the importance of the role women play in societies.
