Uwamahoro Vanessa was born in Kigali city and she studied art in Ecole d’Art de Nyundo from 2014 to 2017. Having grown up next to people who made handcrafted things, her love for the outdoors grew tremendously. Throughout her life, Uwamahoro has always been fascinated by paintings and how the world is artistically represented through the eyes of others. Employing mosaic patterns, Uwamahoro mixes different kinds of things with paints to allow the natural environment to take on an artistic voice. For her, landscapes are only a part of her artistic interests. Her artwork is inspired by and explores the things she sees every day, particularly the various forms of violence that men unleash onto women; such as harassment, abuse, rape, assault, and pimping.
